Debunking a Diet Myth Yesterday I counseled a good friend on some of the benefits about eating a Living Food diet. One of the best things about eating raw is the abundance of foods which are available. Nuts and Seeds are a big part of this wonderful way of life. She immediately took a stand that nuts and seeds are full of fat and should be avoided if one wants to lose weight. She had recently been successful with Weight Watchers and mentioned how they had educated her that nuts were a big “no no!”

I agree and disagree with her statement. If you are consuming roasted and salted versions of nuts and seeds then yes, you are consuming empty calories which your body can’t really break down properly and will most likely convert to fat!

In the RAW food diet we use raw nuts and seeds ( luckily these are readily available in the bins at Whole Foods stores and other great natural food markets)to increase our body’s vitality. When you soak the RAW nuts or seeds in water for a extended period of time the nut’s natural enzyme prohibitor will wash away and the nut will sprout. It then becomes a living food- which will benefit your body in wonderful ways. It becomes easy to digest and converts to energy- not fat!
