There’s so many things to love about Halloween! My neighborhood transforms with wonderful Fall colors and pumpkins on each door step. And then there’s the candy! This year my 20 year old daughter gifted us with a large bag of candy – 4 days before Halloween. Do I have to tell you how much of it was left by the time Halloween came around? You guessed it- I couldn’t even find the wrappers!!! Even people with the best willpower find it difficult to forgo their favorite candy treat. Bringing your body back into balance-after any kind of indulgence it critical to your well-being. I rely on juicing to help me consume large amounts of minerals, vitamins and phytonutrients to counteract all the sugar and preservatives which comes from a handful of candy. Here’s my great
GREEN REMEDY juice:
Yield: 12-14 ounces (single serving)
4 leafs of Swiss Chard- include stalk
1 medium cucumber
1 lemon, skin cut away
3 stalk of celery
2 1″ pieces of ginger
Use a masticating juicer (like the Omega) for the best nutrient release.
Celery is rich in potassium. It’s a great electrolyte replacement option. The Swiss Chard in this recipe can also be replaced with kale. These greens are filled with iron, calcium and potassium. All of these minerals can be depleted from excess sugar.
