I’ve got a new champion in my life. It’s Dr. Oz! His new show is great. It’s on Fox network in the mornings. Here in Utah we get it at 9AM. He discussed a key element for flu prevention this season and I could not agree more! It was to consume a prebiotics and a probiotics to serve the health of your colon. 70% of your immune system is tied directly to your colon. Naturally, a great source of prebiotics are garlic and onions. There are plenty of probiotic sources coming on the market today in your refrigerated section right along with the yogurts. Read the label – what is it sweetened with. Stay away from artificial sweeteners. At the same time, be careful of the calorie count. You may have to sacrifice taste, but really, you only need a little bit- so chug it and forget it.
I recommend a fantastic fiber product called Crave from the Liv SXinney line of products for your prebiotic. It’s such an easy way to consume fiber and it actually tastes great. I’m personally consuming 3 packets of Crave each day. I’m receiving 15 additional grams of fiber, regulating my blood sugar, filling up my belly so I can manage my portions and bulking up my waste so it will move out quickly. All fantastic side benefits!!
